After the devastation of France during WW1, haute couture fashion houses desperately wanted to bring colour and joy into the French lifestyle.
Chanel hit the catwalks with bright colours and patterned fabrics, something Europe had not seen since the start of the war. These buttons were manufactured in the early 1920's for that very reason. Chanel launched a range of these button in every colour imaginable to compliment their brightly coloured blouses. Original Chanel antique buttons like these are now extremely rare & much sought after.
This green is quite remarkable. It's a happy colour. The gold logo makes the green look deep and rich. These buttons are just the right size for earrings. I have set them in solid sterling silver, with a subtle beaded edge. Instead of a hook earring, I have made these a stud by way of a pavè set cubic zirconia round disc with which the button dangles from. It is so hard to photograph these properly, but they really do have a great deal of sparkle. You won't be disappointed!
Light, easy and comfortable to wear, these earrings make the perfect accessory to a weekend casual look or glamorous evening outfit. You'll certainly grab attention with these adorning your lobes.
