At the heart of this piece lies a rare and remarkable antique Chanel button from the early 1930s. An era when elegance was not just an aspiration, but a lifestyle. This particular button once adorned a tailored Chanel nautical navy and white blazer.
Imagine the woman who wore this blazer, stepping aboard a polished wooden yacht moored off the coast of Saint-Tropez, her heels clicking softly on the deck. She’s dressed immaculately, the breeze catching the hem of her pleated skirt, her blazer perfectly fitted, its brass buttons gleaming in the sun. She’s not new to the Riviera. She summers here. She lunches at Hôtel Belles Rives, hosts cocktail soirées at her villa, and sails most mornings, salt air brushing against pearls at her throat.
A woman of such wealth and refinement didn’t choose Chanel by accident. Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel had, by the 1920s, redefined elegance, introducing nautical inspired fashion that blurred the line between leisure and luxury. This button is a shining example of that legacy: a soft brushed brass piece in the shape of a ship’s wheel, stamped CHANEL PARIS, and undoubtedly chosen to reflect both a love of boating and impeccable taste.
To honour its story, I’ve hand crafted a custom bail from textured brass, designed to echo the golden hue of the button and tie the piece together with warm, tactile charm. That same hammered texture continues throughout the silver setting, giving the pendant an artisanal edge that’s as at home with a classic gold or silver chain, as it is with a string of pearls.
Can you feel her presence in it? Her freedom, her flair, and her command of fashion?
Do you share her love for nautical style? Are you a boating enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates elegance with a story?
This is the first Chanel nautical button I’ve ever found. It’s not just rare, it’s unforgettable.
