Are floral themes something you adore? Then this exquisite antique French button pendant will capture your heart completely.

Dating from the late 1870s, this piece hails from France’s Belle Époque,  the nation’s “beautiful age.”   A golden era of art, beauty, and refinement. During this time, floral embossed buttons symbolised elegance and femininity, worn by the most fashionable women of Paris. Each petal, curve, and engraving reflected the craftsmanship and grace that defined the Victorian and Belle Époque eras.

A Feminine Design, Reimagined

When I first placed this button on my jewellery bench, its gentle femininity was undeniable. It deserved a setting that would honour its soft romantic spirit.

I hand crafted the bezel in solid sterling silver, adding a delicate beaded edge around the pendant, which is an authentic nod to Victorian era detailing. The button’s open filigree floral design reveals a rare mirrored back, creating a subtle shimmer as the light reflects through its intricate form.  I have only ever seen this feature on a button once before.  My antique and French historian who found this button for me, has confirmed this open filigree with a mirrored back, is extremely rare.  So I feel very privileged to breathe new life into this incredible button.

Luxury in 24ct Gold Vermeil

To complement its golden hues and enhance its sense of refinement, the entire pendant has been finished in 24ct yellow gold vermeil plating. This rich layer of gold brings warmth, luxury, and harmony to the original brass button, creating a piece that feels both regal and timeless.

Every curve and detail has been lovingly refined by hand, as was the way of time.   A true example of handcrafted French buttons, that bridges the beauty of the past with the craftsmanship of today.

A One of a Kind Antique Button Pendant

This one of a kind pendant has been entirely handcrafted using traditional Goldsmith techniques, uniting genuine sterling silver, 24ct gold vermeil, and a 19th-century French button.

A true fragment of history, reborn for the modern collector,  elegant, romantic, and unmistakably Belle Époque.

Gold vermeil is a thick layer of 24ct gold over sterling silver.   Luxurious, but delicate. To keep it looking beautiful:

• Avoid water, sweat, perfumes, and lotions.

• Remove before showering, swimming, or exercising.

• Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth,  no harsh cleaners.

• Store pieces separately in a dry, cool place.

Over time, gentle fading is natural. It adds character, but re-plating is always an option if you’d like a refresh.

*Please note, the buttons used in all of my creations are second hand, antique or vintage, therefore they will show signs of their previous lives.  Some scratches, tiny dents, some enamel wear and even tarnishing.  I cannot guarantee the quality or longevity of these buttons.  In some cases there can be colour variations, and plating lift during the polishing process, this is unavoidable.  I’m unable to refund or replace buttons that break or crack.  Although I do put every button through rigorous testing to do my best to ensure their longevity.  *Disclaimer… I’m not able to guarantee the longevity of any buttons that have crystals or pearls used.

Unlike costume jewellery, my jewellery is professionally hand crafted using traditional Goldsmith techniques and genuine, solid precious metals, so therefore you can wear *some of your Porsha Bella pieces whilst swimming, showering and washing.  These activities shouldn’t damage or discolour the precious metals.  I never take my jewellery off.  However, you may need to polish your jewellery a little more frequently if you want that shiny, brand new look.  If you treat your Porsha Bella creation, like the treasure of history it is, you should have an heirloom piece that will stand the test of time.  If you have any concerns about how to care for this piece, then please reach out to me and I can help you with tips on getting a long and happy wear life out of it.
