A little bit of 1970s glamour
These extraordinary little buttons began their lives in the 1970s, adorning a black blouse at a time when fashion was embracing bold patterns, shimmer, sparkle and the unmistakable glamour of the decade.
I have always loved the idea that the most beautiful jewellery can begin its life somewhere completely unexpected, and these buttons are a perfect example. Once removed from their original garment, their stark silver-toned finish and dramatic starburst design revealed something rather special.
Against the black of the original blouse, I imagine these buttons must have looked incredible. And now, more than fifty years later, they have been given an entirely new life as a pair of beautifully distinctive earrings.
Small in size, big in impact
These aren’t large earrings, and that’s precisely what makes them so wonderful.
The intricate starburst design does all the talking. The highly polished bezel edge of each solid sterling silver setting catches the light and frames the vintage button beautifully, drawing your eye right into the centre of that extraordinary radiating pattern.
They’re statement making without being big and loud.
They’re the kind of earrings that will elevate a simple black dress, add something unexpected to a crisp white shirt, or bring a little 1970s glamour to your favourite everyday outfit.
And I have to tell you about the shepherd’s hooks.
Look closely at the details
I’ve used solid sterling silver diamond cut shepherd’s hooks, and I absolutely love the way they echo the radiating pattern of the vintage buttons.
The diamond cut surface catches the light beautifully, creating a subtle play of sparkle and texture that complements the starburst design perfectly.
It’s one of those details that photographs simply can’t quite capture.
You really do need to see these earrings in real life to appreciate just how incredible they are.
Vintage history, reimagined
These are original vintage 1970s buttons, carefully repurposed and transformed into wearable history.
Each one carries a tiny piece of fashion history, but the finished earrings feel completely at home in a modern wardrobe.
They’ll interrupt conversations.
They’ll garner admiring glances from strangers.
They’ll probably make someone ask you where you found them.
A perfect gift
I can see these being such a lovely gift for someone special.
A daughter.
A granddaughter.
A bridesmaid.
A friend who loves vintage.
Or simply someone who appreciates jewellery that is a little bit different from everything else.
And if you really can’t resist them yourself, I wouldn’t blame you.

Now for the legal stuff:-
Please note, all buttons used in my creations are antique, vintage, or second hand, and will naturally show signs of their previous lives. Such as gentle surface marks, tiny dents, enamel wear, or soft tarnishing.
Each button is carefully tested and securely set, but as these treasures can be well over a century old, they remain delicate and should be treated with the same care as any fine antique.
While the jewellery itself is professionally handcrafted from solid precious metals using traditional goldsmith techniques, designed to last a lifetime, the historic buttons, pearls, and crystals within these designs are inherently more fragile. Their age and patina are what make them so special.
To preserve your piece, please avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, perfume, or impact. Treat it gently, and it will bring you many years of beauty and admiration.
As each piece is entirely handmade and one of a kind, I’m unable to offer refunds, exchanges, or replacements for changes of mind, or for age related wear such as button cracking, crystal or pearl loss, or plating lift that may occur over time.
If you ever have concerns about caring for your jewellery, please don’t hesitate to contact me for personalised advice.
