Can you believe that Venice played a roll in this beautiful button being made?
These buttons were the feature on the rear pocket of the first fashion house’s trousers for women. During a trip to Venice, Coco Chanel found it impossible to gracefully get in and out of gondolas whilst wearing a dress or skirt. She watched men do this with ease and decided it was time to design ladies trousers. That was in the 1920’s, after the end of WW1, when fashion houses were trying to bring colour and life back into haute couture fashion.
So being the 1920’s, makes this button an antique Chanel piece. Now that’s incredible.
I have set the button in a simple bezel set, but I’ve added little 9ct yellow gold balls around the outer edges to enhance the gold lettering on the button itself. Apart from the added gold accents, this ring is hand crafted in solid sterling silver. The band has a delicate, feminine embossed pattern.
As this is a relatively smaller ring, I personally think it will make a wonderful pinky/little finger ring. Wearing statement pinky rings is totally in vogue right now too.
Classic antique Chanel on your finger, you really can’t go wrong.
