Chanel meets Boho Chic. A 1988 archive gem
There’s something undeniably magnetic about this piece. From the moment this vintage Chanel button arrived in my hands, I was hooked. The Bohemian elegance, the hint of turquoise, the aged brass, it all comes together in the most effortless, stylish way.
Originally part of the 1988 Chanel collection, this button once adorned the waistband of a pair of French linen trousers. I could instantly picture it paired with sun faded denim and crisp linen, classic, free-spirited, and quietly luxurious.
The roots of Bohemian style. Paris, 18th Century
Did you know that the Boho movement began in Paris in the late 18th century? Born from necessity in the aftermath of the French Revolution, it was a minimalist lifestyle adopted by artists, writers, and creatives who lived outside the conventional. Over time, it evolved into an expressive, romantic aesthetic, rooted in freedom, individuality, and effortless beauty.
Chanel’s mastery: Merging luxury with simplicity
What I love most about this piece is how Chanel managed to blend raw, bohemian charm with the sophistication of French linen. It’s what the house of Chanel does best, taking contrasts and marrying them with precision. The turquoise coloured resin, set in aged brass with a soft, matte finish, is no accident. The subtle oxidisation gives the metal an antique, timeworn beauty that pairs so naturally with the Boho aesthetic.
Crafted in precious metals with luxury finishes
This pendant has been bezel set in solid sterling silver, and then lavishly plated in 24ct yellow gold vermeil, a far superior finish to standard gold plating. Gold vermeil uses a thick layer of high purity gold over solid silver, making it both luxurious and durable. The large loop bail was carefully chosen to echo the button’s original tones, tying the entire design together with thought and intention.
Every part of this pendant is handmade in my French atelier, using traditional goldsmithing techniques that preserve craftsmanship and elevate every detail.
A one of a kind statement pendant
This pendant is more than jewellery, it’s wearable history. Its effortless style, Parisian provenance, and carefully considered materials make it a true collector’s piece. Whether styled with crisp linen or vintage denim, it brings a touch of elevated Boho chic to any look.
Your jewellery journey begins with a piece of hand crafted wearable history, by Porsha Bella Jewellery.
Caring for Your Gold Vermeil Jewellery
Gold vermeil is a thick layer of 24ct gold over sterling silver. Luxurious, but delicate. To keep it looking beautiful:
-
Avoid water, sweat, perfumes, and lotions.
-
Remove before showering, swimming, or exercising.
-
Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth, no harsh cleaners.
-
Store pieces separately in a dry, cool place.
Over time, gentle fading is natural. It adds character, but re-plating is always an option if you’d like a refresh.
