The house of Chanel first brought us the cape style coat in the 1940’s. This style was obviously a hit, because Chanel continued to produce this style staple. This button is from a 1967 Chanel cape coat. If you look at the last image, you’ll see an example of what the cape would have looked like.
Imagine the kind of lady that would have owned this cape. If only this button could talk! The nights out it would have seen. The people watching whilst sitting in an outdoor cafe. Live theatre or orchestra evenings in stunning Parisian buildings.
I precured this button from a Parisian gentleman who has spent his life collecting designer fashion pieces that date back to the early 1900’s. If the clothing is still viable, he will treat the piece to preserve it, or if it’s beyond saving, he will take what is still collectable and either keep for himself, or on sell. He often has some interesting buttons, and this is just one example of that.
This button is a beauty! It’s big, bold & classic and those iconic gold double C’s really stand out against the black and white background. I have hand crafted a very simple setting for this button, as I don’t think it needed any bells or whistles.
The setting is solid sterling silver and will enhance any of your existing gold or silver chains. I’ve even teamed it with a small string of pearls and it doesn’t disappoint. If you’re looking for a dramatic, statement making pendant, with a classic vintage Chanel feel, then this my friend is exactly what you need.
Your jewellery journey begins with a piece of Porsha Bella wearable history.
