Honey Bees never seem to go out of fashion. From fabric motifs, wall papers, artwork and even buttons, Bees are always popular.
This button dates back to the late 1970’s and had a long run on Gucci catwalks. These buttons were on blouses, dresses and skirts. They can be found in a rainbow of colours that really is classic Gucci. I managed to get a hold of a few of these in different colours from a collection in Paris.
I love the subtly of these creamy white background, with the antique bronze coloured bee, surrounded by solid sterling silver. It just looks elegant and understated, but still makes the onlooker curious as to what it is.
The button charm is set in solid sterling silver, with an attachable clasp, which is also solid sterling silver.
I’ve teamed this attachable charm with a stretch Chalcedony beaded bracelet. Chalcedony is one of my favourite gemstones. Chalcedony has a waxy lustre and comes in an array of colours. These beads were hard to get the true colour in natural light, but they have a very pale jade green hue mixed with the white veins running through the beads. The button charm is attached onto the sterling silver charm carrier.
Chalcedony has many healing properties. It is a nurturing stone that promotes overall generosity. It can aid with emotional balance, stamina, vitality, endurance, energy, kindness and friendliness. It alleviates hostility, self doubt, negative thoughts and emotions.
Now add in the symbolism of the honey-bee, which is the spirit animal that comes into your life to set you free. Life is sweet, and you can get so much out of it. The honey-bee brings a message of teamwork. It shows you, you can accomplish so much with the resources you have at your disposal.
