“Amy” Vintage Chanel Crystal Button Ring

The 1980’s was a period that Chanel designs went all out with adding diamanté crystals to their pieces.  This trend was mostly seen in the buttons, but occasionally, sleeves were adorned with stripes of sequins or glitter.  It’s those diamanté encrusted buttons that have brought me so much pleasure.

This button was rescued from a ladies bomber jacket from the early 1980’s.  The jacket was purchased at the Paris vintage auctions, but only small pieces of the fabric and a few buttons could be salvaged.  I was lucky enough to secure this button from it.  Knowing only a few pieces could be rescued, led me think about the life this jacket had lived.  I wonder who owned it originally?  I wonder if the jacket spent its life in Paris?  Will this be the first time one of it’s buttons will leave France and live out the rest of it’s days with you?

The ring design I chose for this button is very simple, with clean lines and a highly polished finish.  With a button face full of sparkle, it didn’t need anything more.  It’s a statement right hand ring and will certainly garnish a lot of attention.  The sparkle is hard to miss.

Hand crafted in solid sterling silver, it’s a commanding piece that will certainly please those that love a good signature, substantial ring.  I think it’ll make the perfect cocktail ring, but unlike costume jewellery, this ring is made using the same precious metals and traditional Goldsmith methods you would expect from all high end jewellers.

The crystals have been flush set, so they are only very slightly raised from the silver toned button face.  Those huge silver toned double C’s are raised above the crystals, which makes them three dimensional.  I’ve made sure the setting isn’t too high on the finger line, so it’s a comfortable, silver and sparkle lovers dream ring.

To preserve your piece, please avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, perfume, or impact. Treat it gently, and it will bring you many years of beauty and admiration.
