Origins in 1930s Paris
These earrings began life in Paris in the 1930s, on a silk blouse produced by the House of Chanel and bearing the original label Tissus Chanel. At a time when silk was the ultimate luxury, Chanel fabrics stood apart, chosen by women who understood the authority and confidence that came from exceptional clothing.
The Woman Who Wore Them
This blouse would have been worn by a woman deeply attuned to style rather than trend. She dressed with intention, understanding that quality fabrics and thoughtful design carried power long before fashion became fast or disposable. Chanel silk was not simply worn, it was recognised.
What Time Left Behind
The blouse itself could not be saved. Years of wear and moth damage had rendered the silk too fragile for restoration. What remained were fragments of fabric, the woven label, and a small number of buttons that had survived intact. These elements were carefully salvaged, preserving the last tangible connection to the original garment.
The Smallest Chanel Buttons I Have Ever Worked With
These are by far the tiniest Chanel buttons I have ever worked with. Their scale is delicate, yet their presence is undeniable. Made from metal with a gold toned overlay, each button features a beautifully scalloped edge that immediately drew me in.
Honouring the Original Design
The scalloped edge was a detail I was determined to preserve. The bezel setting was designed specifically to follow the original contours of the button, allowing its form to remain fully visible rather than hidden or altered. The iconic double Cs sit quietly at the centre in gold, framed by rich black enamel.
Black and Gold, Quietly Powerful
Black and gold is a pairing that has always carried depth and confidence. Here it feels especially refined. The contrast is striking without being loud, timeless without feeling restrained. These colours alone tell a story of elegance and self assurance.
Handcrafted With Intention
Each setting has been completely hand crafted in solid sterling silver in my rural French workshop. To complement the original buttons, the finished pieces were plated in rich 24ct gold vermeil, enhancing the warmth of the metal and elevating these tiny buttons into something far more commanding than their size suggests.
From Day to Evening
These earrings are designed to move effortlessly through a day. Elegant enough for a long lunch, confident enough for a formal evening, and classic enough to feel entirely natural in both settings. They do not shout. They do not need to.
A Finished Story
Once these buttons were rescued and transformed, their story became complete. What was once part of a cherished garment has now been given a new life, ready to be worn and appreciated once again.

Your jewellery journey begins with a piece of Porsha Bella wearable history.
What is 24ct Yellow Gold Vermeil?
Gold vermeil is a layer of real gold over solid sterling silver. To be called vermeil, the gold must be at least 10ct and plated at a certain thickness. At Porsha Bella Jewellery, I use 24ct yellow gold, the purest, richest toned gold, for a luxurious finish that’s both elegant and enduring.
Caring for Your Gold Vermeil Jewellery
Gold vermeil is a thick layer of 24ct gold over sterling silver. Luxurious, but delicate. To keep it looking beautiful:
-
Avoid water, sweat, perfumes, and lotions.
-
Remove before showering, swimming, or exercising.
-
Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth, no harsh cleaners.
-
Store pieces separately in a dry, cool place.
Over time, gentle fading is natural. It adds character, but re-plating is always an option if you’d like a refresh.
Now for the legal stuff:-
Please note, all buttons used in my creations are antique, vintage, or second hand, and will naturally show signs of their previous lives. Such as gentle surface marks, tiny dents, enamel wear, or soft tarnishing.
Each button is carefully tested and securely set, but as these treasures can be well over a century old, they remain delicate and should be treated with the same care as any fine antique.
While the jewellery itself is professionally handcrafted from solid precious metals using traditional goldsmith techniques, designed to last a lifetime, the historic buttons, pearls, and crystals within these designs are inherently more fragile. Their age and patina are what make them so special.
To preserve your piece, please avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, perfume, or impact. Treat it gently, and it will bring you many years of beauty and admiration.
As each piece is entirely handmade and one of a kind, I’m unable to offer refunds, exchanges, or replacements for changes of mind, or for age related wear such as button cracking, crystal or pearl loss, or plating lift that may occur over time.
