“Arielle” Platinum LV Button Earrings

These buttons were born out of the house of Louis Vuitton bringing Marc Jacobs onboard in 1997. Throughout his appointment at LV, he really brought some life into the house with a fresh perspective, giving a new take on the monogram and revolutionising fashion shows.

In 1999, Marc Jacobs designed his first menswear collection for the house of Louis Vuitton.  That year,  the Paris catwalk saw a luxurious collection of velvet men’s jackets and satin collared shirts.  Remember, this was the launch of LV into mens fashion, so Marc Jacobs knew there was a need to really stand out.  I’ve added a couple of photo’s that were sent to me from the 1999 Paris fashion week show.

These buttons are from one of those black velvet jackets.  These buttons are so understated and have the most alluring satin platinum colour to them, which really balances well against the shine of the sterling silver setting.  Because these buttons aren’t complicated in their design, I felt they could benefit from a silver beaded embellishment that I’ve added to the outer part of the setting.

Now, I would normally remove those tiny hammer dents that are present after setting the buttons, but I just loved the way that rough, dented edge looked against the button face.  I’ve tried to capture this in some of the close up images.

Sometimes being understated and elegant is far more desirable.  These earrings are no nonsense, easy to wear and are ready to compliment your casual wardrobe, as much as your formal outfits.

Each button is carefully tested and securely set, but as these treasures can be well over a century old, they remain delicate and should be treated with the same care as any fine antique.

While the jewellery itself is professionally handcrafted from solid precious metals using traditional goldsmith techniques, designed to last a lifetime, the historic buttons, pearls, and crystals within these designs are inherently more fragile. Their age and patina are what make them so special.
To preserve your piece, please avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, perfume, or impact. Treat it gently, and it will bring you many years of beauty and admiration.

As each piece is entirely handmade and one of a kind, I’m unable to offer refunds, exchanges, or replacements for changes of mind, or for age related wear such as button cracking, crystal or pearl loss, or plating lift that may occur over time.
