The house of Gucci’s classic symbol is that of the bee. Why, you might ask. Well, the bee on the Gucci logo is an homage to a dazzling cache of 300 gold-and-garnet bees found in the tomb of fifth-century monarch King Childeric. European nobility has used the bumblebee as a symbol of nobility for centuries.
The Gucci Bee is a symbol of luxury, standing tall as the brand’s signature mark. It has come to represent opulence, refinement, and elegance; qualities attributed to this iconic Italian fashion house.
From its humble beginnings, it has evolved into one of the world’s most recognisable logos – adorning everything from purses to clothing lines. Its popularity has grown over the years due to its simple but powerful design that captures the essence of what makes Gucci unique: timelessness, sophistication, and craftsmanship.
The bee itself embodies these values perfectly, drawing its inspiration from ancient Rome where bees were seen as symbols of wealth and success. As such, it perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the Gucci brand.
As you may have already seen my very popular Gucci bee button earrings, that were once worn on colourful cotton blouses, this button is from a Gucci jacket. It’s much larger than the buttons I use to create the earrings, so it works perfectly as the feature in this pendant.
I’ve added this delicate ivy edge to the pendant, to give the whole creation a natural, earthy tone. This piece has been hand crafted in solid sterling silver and comes complete with the fine sterling silver chain.
Please note… this is an extremely hard button to photograph, as it’s really shiny. The button is in really good condition, so any marks or blemishes that may appear in these photographs, are merely light reflections and not imperfections in the button itself.
Your jewellery journey begins with a piece of wearable history by Porsha Bella Jewellery.
*Please note, the buttons used in all of my creations are second hand, antique or vintage, therefore they will show signs of their previous lives. Some scratches, tiny dents, some enamel wear and even tarnishing. I cannot guarantee the quality or longevity of these buttons. In some cases there can be colour variations, and plating lift during the polishing process, this is unavoidable. I’m unable to refund or replace buttons that break or crack. Although I do put every button through rigorous testing to do my best to ensure their longevity. *Disclaimer… I’m not able to guarantee the longevity of any buttons that have crystals or pearls used.
Unlike costume jewellery, my jewellery is professionally hand crafted using traditional Goldsmith techniques and genuine, solid precious metals, so therefore you can wear *some of your Porsha Bella pieces whilst swimming, showering and washing. These activities shouldn’t damage or discolour the precious metals. I never take my jewellery off. However, you may need to polish your jewellery a little more frequently if you want that shiny, brand new look. If you treat your Porsha Bella creation, like the treasure of history it is, you should have an heirloom piece that will stand the test of time. If you have any concerns about how to care for this piece, then please reach out to me and I can help you with tips on getting a long and happy wear life out of it.
