Can you believe that Venice played a roll in these beautiful buttons being made?
These buttons were the feature on the rear pocket of the first fashion house’s trousers for women. During a trip to Venice, Coco Chanel found it impossible to gracefully get in and out of gondolas whilst wearing a dress or skirt. She watched men do this with ease and decided it was time to design ladies trousers. That was in the 1920’s, after the end of WW1, when fashion houses were trying to bring colour and life back into haute couture fashion.
Coco was looking for something that would bring Chanel back to the top of the fashion world. I can imagine that creating the controversy of a trouser for women in the 1920’s would have certainly done just that!
Now these controversial trouser buttons have been re-imagined into the perfect pieces of wearable history.
Nothing beats the crispness of which and silver, which compliments the gold toned Chanel logo perfectly. These buttons just needed a simple rub over setting to showcase them. All completely hand crafted in solid sterling silver, these earrings are light, easy and comfortable to wear. They make the perfect accessory to a weekend casual look or glamorous evening outfit. You’ll certainly grab attention with these adorning your lobes.
If you like to have a matching set, then you must check out the button ring that uses the same button as these earrings. You’ll see some images of them together here, but you can also see more images of just the ring if you go back and look through this section.

*Please note, the buttons used in all of my creations are second hand, antique or vintage, therefore they will show signs of their previous lives. Some scratches, tiny dents, some enamel wear and even tarnishing. I cannot guarantee the quality or longevity of these buttons. Although I do put every button through rigorous testing to do my best to ensure their longevity. *Disclaimer… I’m not able to guarantee the longevity of any buttons that have crystals or pearls used.
