A Tiny Chanel Button That Helped Change Women’s Fashion Forever

This delicate lavender Chanel button dates all the way back to the 1920s and once sat on the rear pocket flaps of some of the very first ladies’ trousers ever created by Chanel. It is extraordinary to imagine the impact those trousers would have had at the time.

The story began during one of Coco Chanel’s stays in Venice, where she became fascinated watching women attempting to climb in and out of gondolas gracefully whilst restricted by long skirts and dresses. Men moved with complete ease in their trousers, and Coco immediately recognised the freedom that women had been denied for generations.

Whilst in Venice, it is said she began sketching her earliest ideas for women’s trousers. Once back in Paris, those sketches became reality and fashion history shifted forever. Over one hundred years ago, women began embracing clothing designed not simply for appearance, but for movement, confidence and independence.

These tiny lavender buttons were the finishing touch to that revolution.

Now preserved forever in a hand crafted solid sterling silver setting with my signature open back, the original button hook remains visible, connecting this piece directly to its remarkable past.

Moonstone Like Drops Of Iridescent Ice

To accompany this rare little Chanel treasure, I chose satin finished moonstone beads that almost resemble frozen drops of light wrapped around the wrist.

Moonstone has long been associated with intuition, femininity, protection and new beginnings. Throughout history it has been treasured for its soft glow and ethereal appearance, often believed to carry calming and balancing energy.

The way the moonstones catch the light beside the lavender enamel is simply beautiful. Their soft iridescence shifts delicately against the polished sterling silver links, creating a bracelet that feels feminine, elegant and incredibly wearable. The flashes of colour from these moonstone beads includes the soft hues of lavender and violet.

The tiny Chanel charm hangs beautifully from the wrist, moving naturally amongst the stones and silver as though it has always belonged there.

Crafted To Last For Generations

Every sterling silver link within this bracelet has been individually hard silver soldered closed for exceptional strength, durability and craftsmanship. The bracelet fastens with a traditional Albert toggle clasp, making it wonderfully easy to put on and remove without the struggle of a tiny clasp.

The balance between moonstone, silver and the lavender Chanel charm feels effortless on the wrist. It is a piece filled with history, femininity and symbolism, but also something incredibly easy to wear every single day.
