This historic button comes from a French Military band uniform dating to the First World War. During this period, military bands played a vital role far beyond ceremony. For this reason, some accompanying images show the button prior to restoration, allowing the lyre to be seen more clearly. In hand, however, the surface comes alive, responding to movement and light in a way that feels quietly mesmerising.
