These exceptional earrings began life as the original buttons from a Chanel woollen cape style coat dating to the mid 1960s. Their generous size and beautifully domed profile ensured they played far more than a functional role on the garment. These were buttons designed to be noticed.

During the 1960s, cape style coats became an elegant staple of fashionable wardrobes, admired for their flowing silhouette and refined sophistication. Chanel embraced this style, often pairing beautifully tailored outerwear with distinctive decorative buttons that elevated even the simplest design into something extraordinary.

Light, Texture and Remarkable Detail

The beauty of these buttons lies in the extraordinary detail contained within a single design.

At the centre sits the instantly recognisable interlocking CC motif, surrounded by a textured circle of rich golden detailing that catches the light from every angle. Beyond this sits a wonderfully intricate radiating pattern in soft ivory white enamel.

The geometric design creates the appearance of sunbeams spreading outward from the centre, giving the button an almost architectural quality. Combined with the domed shape, the result is a design filled with depth, texture and movement.

Why I Chose Sterling Silver

One of the decisions I wrestled with during the creation process was whether to gold plate the sterling silver settings.

Ultimately, I felt the buttons already contained everything they needed.

The abundance of golden detail within the design deserved to remain the focal point. By choosing polished sterling silver instead, the settings provide contrast and definition, allowing the white enamel and intricate gold detailing to stand out even more beautifully. The result feels fresh, elegant and perfectly balanced.

Each button has been individually transformed within my French atelier and mounted into handcrafted solid sterling silver settings.

The earrings are fitted with exceptionally comfortable clip on fittings that provide a secure fit without discomfort. Designed for effortless all day wear, they deliver impressive visual impact while remaining wonderfully lightweight and easy to enjoy.

Unlike costume jewellery, my jewellery is professionally hand crafted using traditional Goldsmith techniques and genuine, solid precious metals, so therefore you can wear *some of your Porsha Bella pieces whilst swimming, showering and washing.  These activities shouldn’t damage or discolour the precious metals.  I never take my jewellery off.  However, you may need to polish your jewellery a little more frequently if you want that shiny, brand new look.  If you treat your Porsha Bella creation, like the treasure of history it is, you should have an heirloom piece that will stand the test of time.  If you have any concerns about how to care for this piece, then please reach out to me and I can help you with tips on getting a long and happy wear life out of it.
