Let’s face it, if you’re weaing these earrings, they are not going to go unnoticed! I’m sure you’ll end up losing count of how many times someone asks you about them or pays you a compliment. The awesome part is…… no one else will EVER have the same earrings! These are 100% one of a kind.
These Vintage Gucci Bee Buttons are dated to the late 1940’s.
They are the perfect combination of fun and 1940’s glamour, hence the addition of those long golden silk thread tassels.
I aquired these buttons from the lady I met from Paris, who had inherited her Mother’s button collection. Each button or collection of buttons had been grouped and tagged with dates and as much information about the buttons as possible. These buttons are said to be from a Gucci blouse. Apparently the buttons were made for the house of Gucci in a range of colours that we purposely contrasting to the colour of the fabrics used to make the blouses.
I guess this was after the end of WW2 and fashion houses were desperately trying to get a grip on the market again. Perhaps the use of vibrant colours was indeed a ploy to attract high end clients, after years of muted tones and devastation.
Can’t you just see these earrings teamed with a light spring blouse or a flowing linen dress? I think these would even work with a roll neck sweater in the winter, due to the rich blue and shining gold thread tassel.
These have been hand crafted using traditional Goldsmith techniques and solid recycled Sterling Silver on the setting of the button, as well as the ear hook. There is NO silver plating on the actual setting or ear hook.
**The tassels were not made by me. I believe the “silver toned” part of the tassel to be a silver colour coating over a base metal of some sort.
