You’re probably very familiar with the Louis Vuitton brand for designing and crafting luggage, handbags, satchels, purses and wallets. The brand was established in 1854 in Paris, but did you know that Louis Vuitton caught the eye of Gabrielle Coco Chanel, who commissioned a bespoke handbag in 1925. In the 1930’s she allowed the bag to be mass produced, thus beginning Louis Vuitton’s foray into smaller luxury leather goods. That’s such an interesting tie of these two iconic fashion houses.
Did you also know that the LV empire still works out of the same factory they established themselves in in 1854? For many years the family home was connected to the fashion house, but now it’s a private museum.
In 1997, American fashion designer, Marc Jacobs came onboard as Creative Director. It was under his influence that Louis Vuitton entered ready-to-wear and Jacobs transformed the brand from a high profile luggage label, into a high fashion empire.
These particular buttons are from one of the earliest LV mens woollen blazers. These blazer’s were only made in a black and white houndstooth and a coffee and cream houndstooth. They were first launched in 1999.
So that makes these buttons relatively young, but they’re still old enough to be vintage.
I really love the simplicity of these buttons. They feature the iconic LV logo in gold, on a highly polished black background. The solid sterling silver setting just works so well with these buttons. I have used a hook design that has a secure locking, so you need not worry about losing these whilst wearing them. Plus they’re really, really comfortable, not at all heavy! You could so easily wear these from morning to evening without any problems.
You’ll feel so special wearing these earrings as even to this day, Louis Vuitton is the most valuable luxury brand in the world. Exclusive, relatable and ever so beautiful.
Your jewellery journey begins with a piece of hand crafted Porsha Bella wearable history.
*Please note, the buttons used in all of my creations are second hand, antique or vintage, therefore they will show signs of their previous lives. Some scratches, tiny dents, some enamel wear and even tarnishing. I cannot guarantee the quality or longevity of these buttons. In some cases there can be colour variations, and plating lift during the polishing process, this is unavoidable. I’m unable to refund or replace buttons that break or crack. Although I do put every button through rigorous testing to do my best to ensure their longevity. *Disclaimer… I’m not able to guarantee the longevity of any buttons that have crystals or pearls used.
Unlike costume jewellery, my jewellery is professionally hand crafted using traditional Goldsmith techniques and genuine, solid precious metals, so therefore you can wear *some of your Porsha Bella pieces whilst swimming, showering and washing. These activities shouldn’t damage or discolour the precious metals. I never take my jewellery off. However, you may need to polish your jewellery a little more frequently if you want that shiny, brand new look. If you treat your Porsha Bella creation, like the treasure of history it is, you should have an heirloom piece that will stand the test of time. If you have any concerns about how to care for this piece, then please reach out to me and I can help you with tips on getting a long and happy wear life out of it.
