“Mia” Antique Harlequin Button Pendant
$350.00
This enchanting piece centres on a rare and remarkable Czech black glass button
This enchanting piece centres on a rare and remarkable Czech black glass button, believed to date back to the late 19th or early 20th century. These buttons were highly prized during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, adored for their deep, glossy sheen and intricate designs. Czech black glass, often referred to as “jet glass,” was considered a luxurious and affordable alternative to real jet, and quickly gained popularity across Europe. France, in particular, embraced these buttons in fashion and millinery, adorning elegant gowns, coats, and accessories with these dark, glinting jewels.
Now, such buttons are increasingly hard to come by. Their delicate nature, combined with the passage of time, means that finding one in excellent condition, like this one, is a true rarity. That scarcity makes this piece even more precious.
What makes this button so magical, however, is its stunning colour-play. Aptly named “Harlequin,” the button dances with shifting colours when kissed by the light – moving effortlessly from oceanic blue, to vivid green, and then to brilliant golden yellow. This optical effect, once a mark of expert glass artisanship, transforms the button into a living jewel.
To complement its striking surface, I hand-crafted a sterling silver setting that wraps the button securely and elegantly. The textured, beaten silver edge brings depth and contrast, highlighting the button’s intricate pattern and vibrant tones. The handcrafted bail and ring add a further layer of artisan charm.
Investing in a Porsha Bella Jewellery piece, means sustainable luxury that’s completely guilt free. Doing your bit for Mother Nature, shouldn’t mean you have to compromise style or opulence.

Important Information
Please note, all buttons used in my creations are antique, vintage, or second hand, and will naturally show signs of their previous lives. Such as gentle surface marks, tiny dents, enamel wear, or soft tarnishing.
Each button is carefully tested and securely set, but as these treasures can be well over a century old, they remain delicate and should be treated with the same care as any fine antique.
While the jewellery itself is professionally handcrafted from solid precious metals using traditional goldsmith techniques, designed to last a lifetime, the historic buttons, pearls, and crystals within these designs are inherently more fragile. Their age and patina are what make them so special.
To preserve your piece, please avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, perfume, or impact. Treat it gently, and it will bring you many years of beauty and admiration.
As each piece is entirely handmade and one of a kind, I’m unable to offer refunds, exchanges, or replacements for changes of mind, or for age related wear such as button cracking, crystal or pearl loss, or plating lift that may occur over time.
If you ever have concerns about caring for your jewellery, please don’t hesitate to contact me for personalised advice.
