Can you imagine wearing a piece of famous French history that is well over 200 years old?
Have you ever thought you deserved to wear a crown?
Well now you can have both!
This button is actually from a uniform that was once worn by a solider of Napoleon’s army. That is just mind-blowing! This should be in a museum, but instead I have transformed it into the most lovely button charm. I have a wonderful antique dealer in Lyon, France, who sources these buttons for me and gathers all the information he can, as he is a passionate historian also.
Napoleon was a fashion lover. His army had to look immaculate at all times. Napoleon’s signature if you like, was the crown. He use to change the uniform style and colours for each new battle, but the crown symbol remained the one staple. The crowns changed their style, but he insisted on crowns being on all uniform and guards buttons.
The interesting or horrific thing about these smaller buttons is that they were sewn down the outer sleeves of the uniforms to prevent soldiers from wiping tears or blood from their faces onto the sleeve of their uniform, so as to keep their uniforms looking as clean and perfect as possible, even during battles. I can’t even begin to imagine.
I have taking something of morbid historical significance and given it a lighter, brighter future for you. Hand crafted in solid sterling silver, this button is now an attachable charm that you can attach to your existing chains and bracelets.
Your jewellery journey begins with a piece of hand crafted wearable history by Porsha Bella Jewellery.

Although I do put every button through rigorous testing to do my best to ensure their longevity. *Disclaimer… I’m not able to guarantee the longevity of any buttons that have crystals or pearls used.
