A Collectible Piece of Fashion History
This pendant features a genuine Chanel button from the 1980s, carefully repurposed into a unique Porsha Bella jewellery design. Originally adorning a Chanel bomber jacket, this button represents a pivotal moment in women’s fashion. Do you remember the rise of the bomber jacket in the 1980s? Once considered strictly masculine, Chanel reimagined it for women, softening the silhouette and adding embellishments such as crystal appliqué and dazzling buttons like this one. It was a bold step, a true blending of strength and femininity.
Iconic Button Design That Dazzles
The button itself is a gold toned metal with a creamy enamel style centre, featuring the iconic interlocking CC motif in gold. Around the edge, a halo of diamante crystals catches the light brilliantly, even after four decades. This sparkling detail was the kind of embellishment that transformed the bomber jacket from utilitarian streetwear into a couture statement.
Tested for Strength and Durability
Because I want every piece I create to be as wearable as it is beautiful, each button undergoes rigorous durability testing. These vintage Chanel buttons have been tumbled and ultrasonically vibrated, which is a process that ensures they are strong enough for careful jewellery wear.
A Pendant Made to Be Styled Your Way
The wide sterling silver, vermeil plated bail, makes this pendant versatile enough to fit most chains. Wear it with classic pearls for elegance, layer it with gold chains. However you style it, this pendant embodies that perfect mix of femininity and strength that defined 1980s women’s fashion.
Handcrafted with Care by Porsha Bella
Every step of this creation has been completed using traditional Goldsmith techniques in solid sterling silver, with a warm, generous 24ct yellow gold vermeil plating. Of course to retain the high value of such a button, the back of the pendant has a little viewing port, that shows the original makers marque and the button hook itself. This is something unique to Porsha Bella Jewellery and is vital to keep the value of such a unique button. While the button itself is an authentic Chanel piece from the 1980s, the design and craftsmanship of this pendant are entirely my own. This makes your pendant a true Porsha Bella creation. Blending history, fashion, and artistry in a way you can feel special every time you wear it.

What is 24ct Yellow Gold Vermeil?
Gold vermeil is a layer of real gold over solid sterling silver. To be called vermeil, the gold must be at least 10ct and plated at a certain thickness. At Porsha Bella Jewellery, I use 24ct yellow gold, the purest, richest toned gold, for a luxurious finish that’s both elegant and enduring.
Caring for Your Gold Vermeil Jewellery
Gold vermeil is a thick layer of 24ct gold over sterling silver. Luxurious, but delicate. To keep it looking beautiful:
-
Avoid water, sweat, perfumes, and lotions.
-
Remove before showering, swimming, or exercising.
-
Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth, no harsh cleaners.
-
Store pieces separately in a dry, cool place.
Over time, gentle fading is natural. It adds character, but re-plating is always an option if you’d like a refresh.
*Please note, the buttons used in all of my creations are second hand, antique or vintage, therefore they will show signs of their previous lives. Some scratches, tiny dents, some enamel wear and even tarnishing. I cannot guarantee the quality or longevity of these buttons. In some cases there can be colour variations, and plating lift during the polishing process, this is unavoidable. I’m unable to refund or replace buttons that break or crack. Although I do put every button through rigorous testing to do my best to ensure their longevity. *Disclaimer… I’m not able to guarantee the longevity of any buttons that have crystals or pearls used.
Unlike costume jewellery, my jewellery is professionally hand crafted using traditional Goldsmith techniques and genuine, solid precious metals, so therefore you can wear *some of your Porsha Bella pieces whilst swimming, showering and washing. These activities shouldn’t damage or discolour the precious metals. I never take my jewellery off. However, you may need to polish your jewellery a little more frequently if you want that shiny, brand new look. If you treat your Porsha Bella creation, like the treasure of history it is, you should have an heirloom piece that will stand the test of time. If you have any concerns about how to care for this piece, then please reach out to me and I can help you with tips on getting a long and happy wear life out of it.
