Can you believe that Venice played a roll in these beautiful buttons being made?
These buttons were the feature on the rear pocket of the first fashion house’s trousers for women. During a trip to Venice, Coco Chanel found it impossible to gracefully get in and out of gondolas whilst wearing a dress or skirt. She watched men do this with ease and decided it was time to design ladies trousers. That was in the 1920’s, after the end of WW1, when fashion houses were trying to bring colour and life back into haute couture fashion.
Coco was looking for something that would bring Chanel back to the top fo the fashion world. I can imagine that creating the controversy of a trouser for women int he 1920’s would have certainly done just that!
Now these controversial trouser buttons have been re-imagined into the perfect pieces of wearable history.
The black background on these buttons, really makes that iconic logo stand out and be noticed. I have hand crafted the solid sterling silver lovely plain simple setting. The shepherds hook is curved to sit closely under the earlobe. The hooks are also solid sterling silver
Light, easy and comfortable to wear, these earrings make the perfect accessory to a weekend casual look or glamorous evening outfit. You’ll certainly grab attention with these adorning your lobes.
