There’s something so fresh and fabulous about mint green, don’t you agree? It’s one of my favourite pastel shades, especially when it’s teamed with white, as these buttons originally were.
Post WW2, Paris was trying so hard to get back to normal. Many of the famous fashion houses were busy trying to add colour back into a very bleak, grey and oppressed France. Chanel did launch several lines with very vibrant colours, but in the winter of 1948, Chanel released a new collection that featured soft colours and feminine lines. These buttons are from one of those pieces. A pure white woollen coat, with the only pop of colour being these lovely buttons.
Can you picture this coat? I know I can. It would have been gorgeous.
Now these buttons have been given a new life, ready and waiting for you to add to their history.
Hand crafted in solid sterling silver, I’ve added a subtle but glamorous beaded edge, to tie in with the little beaded detail around the centre of the button. With those icon double C’s being the centre of attention. I’ve also added a thicker wire to the front of the ear hook, which just balances the size of the buttons with the ear wire.
I’ve also chosen a bit of a longer drop. I think these mint babies deserve to swing a little lower, so as to catch everyone’s attention.
I have to be honest, I haven’t seen many pastel Chanel buttons and I’ve never seen a mint green Chanel Button before. So don’t hesitate, or these will be adorning ears that aren’t yours.
